Pakistan’s 21-year-old pacer Razaullah made an impressive Test debut in the ongoing third match against England at the Edgbaston ground in Birmingham. This Test match got underway on September 9, 2026, and saw Joe Root win the toss and choose to bowl first.
Only Saud Shakeel (43) and Mohammad Abbas (21) were the ones to cross the 20-run mark for Pakistan, as the visitors were bowled out for 133 runs in the first innings. Josh Tongue picked four wickets, while Jofra Archer and Ollie Robinson took three wickets each.
In response, England ended day one on 156/4, with Emilio Gay and Harry Brook scoring half-centuries. The most impressive Pakistani bowlers were Razaullah, who dismissed Joe Root for 8, and Gay for 60 runs.
Interestingly, the 21-year-old pacer from Mardan had a very interesting route to the Pakistan XI, as a Dawn report revealed that when Razaullah was included in the Pakistan squad, the speedster didn’t even have a passport. A coach was purportedly dispatched to his town in an attempt to find him and let him know about the exceptional opportunity because time was running out.
A desperate race against time ensued. The young pacer was able to fly to England thanks to an emergency arrangement for his passport and visa.
The bowler wowed with his speed, apparently reaching speeds of 92 miles per hour in his first spell. He was one of the most talked-about players of the game by the end of the day, having taken two wickets.
Razaullah began his professional career in the district Under-19 competition for Mardan in 2023. He later represented Abbottabad at the regional youth level before signing a deal with Sahir Associates for the President's Trophy Grade II tournament in 2024-25.
Razaullah later played for Peshawar in the 2025-26 Quaid-i-Azam Trophy, where he demonstrated his batting abilities by making a century and a fifty in the same match.
The right-handed pacer then had a greater influence with the ball in the 2025-26 President's Trophy. He got 30 wickets in five matches for Sahir Associates, establishing himself as a promising new fast bowler in Pakistan's domestic circuit.
Razaullah then made his Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026) debut for the new franchise Rawalpindiz. His performances also piqued the interest of PCB high-performance director Aaqib Javed during practice sessions at the National Cricket Academy, bolstering his case for a spot in Pakistan's squad.
