India and Karnataka cricketer Mayank Agarwal has joined Durham County for the final four matches of the ongoing English county season. Agarwal will play with former England captain Ben Stokes in the county.

The right-handed batter will be ready for Wednesday's match against Northamptonshire, taking the place of South African international David Bedingham.

With 678 runs at an average of 42.37 during the 2025–2026 Ranji Trophy season, Mayank was the 12th-highest run scorer. However, he lost his position of Karnataka captain in the middle of the season.

“We are delighted to have Mayank joining us for our county championship run. With David Bedingham returning to South Africa ahead of their international red-ball summer, it was important we acted by recruiting a high-class international cricketer for the remainder of the season. " Mayank is a hugely talented batter who has a superb first-class record; we look forward to him contributing to Durham as we look to secure our return to Division One of the County Championship,” Durham Head Coach Ryan Campbell said in a statement.  

The 35-year-old played 21 Tests for India and scored 1488 runs at 41.33, with four centuries and a best score of 243, while also featuring in five ODIs. Overall, Mayank has scored 8,929 runs in 124 FC games with 21 centuries and 48 fifties at an average of 43.98 with a highest score of 304*.

This stint will be the second one for Mayank Agarwal in English county cricket, having played for Yorkshire last season.
