India's tour of Bangladesh scheduled for September 2026 is on the verge of another postponement due to ongoing scheduling discussions between the BCCI and the BCB.

Originally scheduled for August 2025, India’s tour of Bangladesh was deferred to September 2026 following diplomatic tensions between two nations.

Earlier this year, the BCB announced an itinerary featuring three ODIs and three T20Is in Dhaka and Chattogram but the BCCI never officially made any announcement regarding the tour.

With two weeks left for the scheduled first ODI (September 3), uncertainty remains over whether the series will go ahead as planned.

Addressing the media in Dhaka on Thursday (August 20), BCB President Tamim Iqbal unveiled the Game Development Trophy, an age-group tournament, and the board released its schedule, with all matches set to take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium from August 28 to September 9.

When asked whether the tournament schedule indicated that India would not travel to Bangladesh, Tamim said there could be a "slight change" in the schedule.

"Both boards remain in discussion about the India series," Tamim said, as quoted by Cricinfo. "The dates may be shifted here or there. This tournament is being held in Mirpur but it can be shifted to the Basundhara ground in two minutes. If the India series is locked and fixed, we will schedule it accordingly."

Following the BCB's announcement of the tour in January, the relations between two boards hit rock bottom after IPL franchise KKR released Mustafizur Rahman from their roster on BCCI’s instructions while Bangladesh refused to travel to India for the T20 World Cup 2026 citing security concerns.

However, ties between the two boards began to improve after Tamim Iqbal assumed the BCB presidency in mid-2026. His leadership focuses strongly on rebuilding damaged institutional ties and reforming domestic cricket system. He recently visited India, marking a notable turning point in thawing previous friction between the two boards.
