A Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official has reportedly given an update on whether India will travel to Bangladesh or not. This is after the relationship between BCCI and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) was strained early this year.

In January, BCCI had asked Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to release their Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who was bought for INR 9.20 crores in the IPL 2026 auction, amid violence against Hindu minorities in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh reacted strongly, and the BCB decided that its team would not travel to India for the T20 World Cup 2026, citing security reasons. BCB also asked the ICC to move Bangladesh’s games out of India to co-host with Sri Lanka.

However, the ICC refused both requests, and as Bangladesh remained rigid in their stance, they were removed from the T20 World Cup, with Scotland earning a place as replacements.

Now under new management, Bangladesh claimed to want to normalize relations with India, and talks resumed about India’s white-ball tour of the neighboring country.

However, a BCCI source has revealed that the Bangladesh tour will go ahead only after government approval, with discussions currently underway with the Indian High Commission.

"The tour of Bangladesh will happen after government approval; we are in talks with the High Commissioner. Our talks are ongoing, but the final decision will come after the government's approval," a BCCI source told ANI.

The source further stated that BCCI’s relations with the BCB are stable as of now and the Indian board is waiting for approval from the central government to green-signal the tour.

"Our terms with the BCB are okay now, and we are looking for a go-ahead signal from our government. We have not decided on a window for the series yet, but one will be created if we get approval for the same," the BCCI source said.

Aminul Islam Bulbul, the BCB's president at the time, presided over a conference in Dhaka in April to talk about the board's ties to India.

As part of routine correspondence, the BCB claimed to have written an email to its Indian equivalent. The anticipated September visit of Bangladesh by the Indian team, the tour of India by the Bangladeshi women's team, and prospects for collaboration between the BCCI and the BCB were all covered in the letter.
