Jemimah Rodrigues, an Indian women’s batter, thinks the first-ever ICC Women's Champions Trophy 2027 will be a memorable event. The team is even more motivated to duplicate its success on the international scene after winning the World Cup in 2025.

Rodrigues discussed India's goals while recuperating from a hamstring injury sustained during her time with Southern Brave in The Hundred 2026.

The team has had a taste of success with India's historic World Cup 2025 victory, and Rodrigues thinks that experience has only made them more determined to stay at the top.

“We've tasted success once, and we know what it feels like to be at the top. The more you taste it, the more you want to be there," Rodrigues said on JioStar.

The inaugural ICC Women's Champions Trophy will be played in Sri Lanka from February 14 to 28, 2027. It will be the inaugural edition of the Champions Trophy in women's international cricket. Jemimah Rodrigues is particularly delighted to be a part of the tournament's inaugural edition, and he believes India's recent success would bring extra impetus.

"Our team is working towards that, and yes, the Champions Trophy is going to be very special. It's happening for the first time in women's cricket, and I'll be a part of it for the first time as well, so it'll be pretty special, and I'm really looking forward to it," she added.

The Champions Trophy was initially slated for a June-July 2026 window, but was moved to an early 2027 window by the ICC. The women's Champions Trophy will feature six teams competing in the T20I format.

The format will consist of a round-robin league stage, with the top two teams progressing to the final. A total of 16 matches will be played across the competition.

India women’s team will prep well for the Champions Trophy with a multi-format tour against South Africa that begins on December 9, 2026. The series will see the two previous World Cup finalists rekindle their rivalry across formats, with India slated to play a single Test, three ODIs, and three T20Is.
