Ryan ten Doeschate has stepped down as India's men's assistant coach following the conclusion of the white-ball series in England, Cricinfo reported on Tuesday (July 28).

According to the report, the former Netherlands cricketer informed the BCCI about his decision during the UK tour, where India lost both the T20I and ODI series.

Following his exit from the national setup, ten Doeschate is set to return to the Indian Premier League (IPL). He will rejoin the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) coaching staff, a franchise where he previously won two titles as a player and later served as a fielding coach.

At KKR, he will once again team up with Abhishek Nayar, with whom he previously worked as an assistant coach in the India set-up and earlier at the IPL franchise.

During his two-year stint, the Indian team experienced a mixture of historic white-ball successes and severe challenges in the longest format of the game.

Ryan ten Doeschate was part of the Gautam Gambhir-led coaching staff that helped the team win the Champions Trophy and Asia Cup in 2025 and successfully defend the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup title.

However, his tenure coincided with a difficult transition period for India's Test squad. The team surrendered the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia and suffered home Test series whitewashes against New Zealand (3-0) and South Africa (2-0).
