Abhishek Sharma held the top spot in ICC T20I rankings for almost 12 months | GettyAbhishek Sharma’s reign as the No. 1-ranked T20I batter has come to an end as his India teammate Ishan Kishan has dethroned him to become the new No.1 T20I batter. This update was given by ICC on July 1, 2026, before the first T20I match between England and India.

Kishan achieves a new career high rating of 876 and surpasses Abhishek following the conclusion of India's recent two-match T20I series against Ireland in Belfast, which the hosts won 2-0.

Kishan's ascent to the top is a result of his steady play at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup at the beginning of the year. The hard-hitting left-hander scored 317 runs at a strike rate of over 200, including a Player of the Match effort against Pakistan in Colombo.

Abhishek held the no. 1 rank in ICC T20I rankings for almost 12 months, while Ishan Kishan became the fourth Indian men’s cricketer after Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav to become the no.1 ranked batter in ICC T20I batting rankings.

Lorcan Tucker (up four places to equal 77th) and Ross Adair (up six places to 84th) gain ground in this category after solid performances with the bat in Belfast.

Seamer Matthew Humphreys (up one spot to 25th) sets a new career high on the list of T20I bowlers after four wickets in the series, while India's Shivam Dube (up three spots to seventh) and Ireland's Gareth Delany (up four slots to 24th) and Harry Tector (up eight spots to 38th) advance on the updated T20I all-rounder rankings.
