Sourav Ganguly, a former BCCI chairman and cricket player for India, has filed a formal complaint with the Kolkata Police, claiming that a Facebook site called "Sourav Ganguly Fans" has been publishing material intended to harm his reputation.

The Thakurpukur Police Station received the complaint, which also makes reference to the media platform Sportzwiki.

Ganguly said in his lawsuit that the page had been releasing posts on a regular basis that were intended to mislead the public and present him in a poor light. He said that the material was meant to damage his reputation rather than just be critical.

Being a public figure, I understand that opinions and criticism are a part of public life; however, spreading misleading, defamatory, and damaging content with the intention of harming my reputation is unacceptable and requires appropriate legal action. I therefore request you to kindly register my complaint against the individuals/group operating this page and take necessary action as per the applicable laws," Ganguly said in his complaint as per ANI.

The matter is now under investigation. Several pages on Ganguly’s name remain active on Facebook and other platforms at the time of writing this piece.
