
The BCCI selection committee, on Saturday, June 6, 2026, announced the India squad for both the men’s and women’s cricket events in the upcoming Asian Games 2026. Japan is hosting the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi Prefecture.
The men’s and women’s matches at the marquee event will be held from September 17 to October 3. These will be T20 matches, and all their games will be played at the Korogi Athletic Park in Aichi Prefecture.
India won gold medals in both the men’s and women’s events at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, and will defend its title in Japan. Apart from Japan and India, other teams participating in the men’s event are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nepal, and Oman.
The men’s cricket tournament will start with preliminary qualifiers on September 24 and will run until October 3.

- October 1: Semi-finals
- October 3: Bronze medal match and gold medal match
The Men’s matches will be played in two daily slots at 5:30 AM IST and 10:30 AM IST.
Shreyas Iyer was named the new India T20I captain, with Tilak Varma being named his deputy. The squad is similar to the one that will play in Ireland and England.
Vaibhav Soooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Ishan Kishan make up the batting, along with Iyer and Tilak. Nitish Reddy and Shivam Dube are the two pace-bowling all-rounders, while Axar Patel and Washington Sundar are the spin all-rounders.
Ravi Bishnoi and Varun Chakaravarthy are the two proper spinners in the squad. Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Jasprit Bumrah are the pacers in the Indian squad.
