New Zealand are set to host India as part of the biggest men’s bilateral cricket series ever staged in the country later this year.
As part of their preparation for the 2027 ODI World Cup, the Shubman Gill-led India squad will play five ODIs against the Kiwis across four venues from November 4 to 15.
The 40-day tour will get underway on October 22 with a five-match T20I series. The all-format series also includes a couple of Test matches, crucial for both teams’ 2025-27 WTC final chances.
It will be India’s first Test assignment in New Zealand since 2019-20 and their first white-ball series there since 2022.
“It’s always a special occasion playing India,” Ish Sodhi, the New Zealand spinner of Indian origin, said in a statement issued by NZC.
“They’re an unbelievable cricket team, full of talent and star power – you know every time you face them it’s going to beseriously challenging. The rivalry we’ve built in recent years is pretty staggering and I’m sure this tour will deliver many more big moments.
“Then there’s the Indian fans and the energy and noise they bring – it really is like nothing else and something everyone should experience at least once in their life.
“I’m really proud of my Indian heritage and to represent my community out here in Papatoetoe today - literally just aroundthe corner from where I grew up is so cool. To bring my worlds and cultures together here in South Auckland is specialand I just can’t wait for the tour to kickstart the home summer.”
Following the India tour, the Black Caps will host Sri Lanka in three ODIs, three T20Is, and two Tests in late January and into February to finish the home international summer.
