Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani’s agency has hit back at the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after the pacer was handed a two-year ban, arguing that he never signed a formal contract before opting to join Kolkata Knight Riders (IPL) for the ongoing IPL season.

Muzarabani was initially announced as a replacement signing in the PSL for a deal worth PKR 11 million. However, he withdrew at the last minute and signed for KKR as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman, prompting the Pakistan board to take disciplinary action.

His agency, World Sports Xchange, issued a strong rebuttal on Sunday (April 19), stating that the lanky fast bowler can’t be accused of breaching a contract as no formal contract was ever signed or issued.

“We've remained quiet publicly over the last 6 weeks because we did not wish to create or cause any more animosity for the Pakistan Super League/Pakistan Cricket Board than they had already created for themselves,” the official statement read.

“However, due to the voluminous and disgusting nature of criticism directed at Blessing via social media, I will no longer stay silent,” it added.

“The so-called ‘fans’ that fill his social media DM's with vile hatred, you are an utter disgrace to humanity, and you are cowards,” the agency slammed the Pakistani trolls.

The agency pointed out that Muzarabani could not have obtained a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Zimbabwe Cricket without a signed contract, which they claim was never provided during the two-week waiting period.

They added that a social media announcement does not constitute a legally binding agreement, describing the ban as "incredibly excessive" and an "administrative error" by the PSL.

"Blessing was approached about a playing opportunity for the 2026 PSL, with a deal agreed subject to obtaining a No Objection Certificate from Zimbabwe Cricket. An NOC cannot be obtained without a contract from the PSL. Despite a public announcement, no contract was ever provided. You simply cannot breach a contract you have never received," the statement said.

According to the agency, when Muzarabani was approached by KKR on Feb 27 as a replacement signing for IPL 2026, there was no binding agreement tying him to the PSL.

“We feel any ban on participation in the PSL is incredibly excessive and is not consistent with the punishment given to players that have actually breached a contract in the past. We urge the PSL to gracefully withdraw the ban and accept this situation for what it is, an administrative error at their end, nothing more. We bear no grudges toward the PSL or Islamabad United,” the statement concluded.

Muzarabani has played two matches for KKR in the ongoing IPL so far. He went wicketless on debut against Mumbai Indians, but bounced back strongly against Sunrisers Hyderabad and took four wickets.
