Legendary India batter Rahul Dravid will be bestowed with the Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement award at the BCCI's annual Naman Awards in New Delhi on March 15, while Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill will receive the Cricketer of the Year award, The Indian Express reported.
According to the report, Mumbai's Ayush Mhatre will also be recognised for his performances with the Lala Amarnath award for the best all-rounder in domestic limited-overs cricket. Notably, Mhatre also led the India U19 team to World Cup glory last month.
The report further adds that the BCCI is also contemplating conferring former India skipper Mithali Raj with a lifetime award as well. Among other awards, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will be honoured with the best cricket association in domestic cricket.
Coming back to Dravid, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest batters to play for India, having amassed 13288 runs in Tests and 10889 runs in ODIs. He also holds the unique record of facing the maximum number of deliveries (31258) in Test history.
Dravid transitioned into coaching after retiring from cricket in 2012, mentoring IPL teams before guiding India U-19 and A sides to prominence, including a 2018 U-19 World Cup win. He was appointed head coach of the senior Indian men's team in 2021, culminating in winning the 2024 T20 World Cup.
As for Gill, he led the team from the front in his maiden assignment as Test skipper on the tour of England last year, scoring 754 runs in 10 innings with four hundreds. His stunning exploits helped India level the series 2-2.
