Veteran India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has confirmed his availability for Saurashtra in the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy season, set to begin on December 24.

According to a TOI report, Jadeja will likely feature in the country’s premier domestic 50-over tournament on January 6 and January 8 against Services and Gujarat, respectively, with both fixtures to be stage in Alur, Karnataka.

Jadeja has communicated the plan to the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA). It comes after the BCCI reportedly issued a diktat, making it mandatory for all current national team players to participate in at least two matches of the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy.

The report further stated that the plan might change if Jadeja is picked for the New Zealand ODI series, set to begin on January 11), and the team is asked to assemble early.

Nonetheless, Jadeja confirming his availability is an indication that he’s pushing for the 2027 World Cup, akin to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Jadeja was overlooked for the tour of Australia and returned for the South Africa series at home, where he claimed one wicket and scored 56 runs in three ODIs.

Addressing the media during the Delhi Test against West Indies in October, Jadeja had expressed his desire to play the 2027 World Cup as the 50-over showpiece remains an "unfinished job" in his illustrious career.

"It is not in my hands, but I want to play the 2027 World Cup. However, team management and selectors must have some kind of thinking as to why I wasn't selected for the Australia ODIs," Jadeja had told reporters.

"If I get a chance to play in the World Cup, it will depend on the matches leading up to the tournament, and if I do well in those, then it will be good. Last time, we came close but missed it, so that will be an unfinished job," he added.
