Smriti Mandhana, star Indian batter, sent a touching message to a little girl cricketer in Kashmir. Filmmaker Kabir Khan shared photos from his recent visit to the area, where he met a young girl in Aru Valley who claimed to be a huge fan of the Indian celebrity.
Mandhana, who will play in India's five-match Twenty20 International series against Sri Lanka beginning on December 21, later saw the post on Instagram and replied with a cute message that went viral on social media.
“Walking with my camera in Kashmir always rewards me with magical moments. Like this little girl in Aru who wanted me to tell Smriti Mandhana that she is her favourite player. I hope Smriti gets to see this post. Or the boys whose playground has a mountain stream as the boundary. If you hit a 6 the ball will flow all the way down the valley into the Jhelum river,” Kabir Khan shared on Instagram.
Mandhana commented on the post: “Please give the little champ in Aru a big hug from me and tell her I’m cheering for her too!”
“I’m so glad you got to see this post. I’m going to show her your lovely message the next time I see her. You are a true inspiration,” Kabir Khan replied.
Mandhana is poised to make history by becoming the first Indian batter to score 4,000 runs in Women's T20Is. She will get her chance in the series opener against Chamari Athapaththu's Sri Lanka on Sunday in Visakhapatnam.
