The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) will award India wicketkeeper-batsman Richa Ghosh a specially designed gold-plated bat and ball at a magnificent felicitation ceremony at Eden Gardens on Saturday for her outstanding performance in India’s Women's World Cup 2025 win.
Richa, one of the architects of India's historic title win, scored 235 runs from eight innings with a strike rate of 133.52, the highest in the tournament, and finished among the team's top five run scorers.
The gold-plated bat and ball will be signed by Ex-India captains Sourav Ganguly and Jhulan Goswami and will be presented to her to recognize her "outstanding achievements and invaluable contribution to Indian cricket".
CAB president Ganguly said the association was proud to honour a player who has brought glory to Bengal and India with her fearless performances.
"Richa has shown remarkable talent, composure, and fighting spirit on the world stage. Honoring her with this gold bat and ball is a small token of our recognition for her extraordinary contribution to Indian cricket. She is an inspiration for every young cricketer in Bengal and across the country,” Ganguly stated in a release as per PTI.
Richa Ghosh was excellent in the final against South Africa as well, as he quick 24-ball 34 propelled India to the match-winning total of 298/7. Overall, Richa smashed 12 sixes in the tournament, equaling Deandra Dottin's record for the most sixes in a single Women's World Cup.
The CAB praised Richa's ascension from Siliguri to international success, characterizing it as a narrative of discipline, commitment, and self-belief.
The association expressed optimism that the award would inspire a new generation of Bengali girls to participate in sports and achieve their aspirations.
