Yashasvi Jaiswal, who last featured for India in the home West Indies Tests and travelled to Australia as part of the ODI squad, will feature for Mumbai in their upcoming Ranji Trophy 2025-26 encounter against Rajasthan.
Mumbai will face Rajasthan in Jaipur from November 1 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. This match will be an excellent practice for the left-handed opener before India faces South Africa in two Tests in November.
Yashasvi Jaiswal stressed that his participation in the Ranji Trophy is voluntary rather than mandatory. The southpaw admitted that domestic cricket affected his career. Jaiswal also acknowledged his satisfaction in representing Mumbai and stated that he will continue to contribute to the team.
“Ranji isn’t just a stepping stone to the Indian team; it plays a big role in a player’s growth. Domestic cricket teaches you how to build an innings, handle different situations, stay patient for long periods, and respect the game. It is a matter of pride to play for Mumbai. So, whenever the schedule allows, I try to make sure I’m there to contribute,” Jaiswal told Times of India.
Yashasvi Jaiswal last played for Mumbai in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy against Jammu & Kashmir, scoring 4 and 26 as the team lost by five wickets. In April, Jaiswal requested an NOC from the Mumbai Cricket Association to relocate to Goa, where he had been awarded captaincy.
However, he later changed his mind, stating that his family's move plans had been cancelled, and indicated a wish to continue serving Mumbai. The MCA granted his plea to rescind the NoC in June.
