Sri Lankan side received the major boost ahead of the series decider third One Day International in Visakhapatnam, as their veteran all-rounder Angelo Mathews has recovered from cramps and will available for selection for Sunday’s series decider against India.
Mathews suffered from cramps during his unbeaten century knock in the Mohali ODI, but now he is recovered and took part in his Team’s training session on Friday and hit the ground -bowled and batted.
As per PTI, Sri Lanka Team manager Asanka Gurusinha said, “Angelo Mathews is fit. He suffered from cramps at the end of the last game. However, he has recovered. He bowled as well as batted in the nets today. All our 15 members are fit and available for selection.”
In this Sri Lanka’s India tour, Mathews has been in flawless form, scoring two hundreds - one in the Delhi Test and one in the Mohali ODI. And the all-rounder can prove to be crucial in Sri Lanka's chances in the series decider, as the two-paced Visakhapatnam wicket could be quite handy for him with his ability to stifle the batsmen with tight lines and subtle variations in pace.
The three-match ODI series between India and Australia is locked at 1-1 after the hosts bounced back strongly in the series and win the second ODI by 141-runs in Mohali.
