Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the third time but many fans of MS Dhoni got more pleasure when the CSK skipper lifted his daughter Ziva Dhoni than when he lifted the IPL trophy.
CSK defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2018 final on Sunday. They crushed the Kane Williamson-led side by 8 wickets and chased the target of 179 way inside 20 overs. This was CSK's fourth win over SRH in this season, a record for any side against one particular opponent.
After men in yellow secured the victory. Dhoni was seen playing with his daughter and he was looking more than happy with the win. The win meant a lot for Dhoni. He wasn't treated that well by the Rising Pune Supergiant franchise in the last couple of years. No wonder, just like fans Dhoni was waiting for CSK's comeback too and he added that the return of Chennai franchise made him emotional.
Dhoni led CSK in their seventh IPL final at Wankhede on Sunday. As per the previous records, Chennai's both IPL wins were when they defended the target. But Dhoni trusted his batting unit to perform under pressure more than the bowling department.
Bowling first, CSK restricted SRH on 178 runs after captain Kane Williamson (47) and Yusuf Pathan (45 not out) helped them put up a par total.
For Chennai, it was one man show by Shane Watson who smashed an unbeaten 117 off just 57 balls. He started his innings slowly with 10 dot balls but upped the ante after the powerplay to help his side achieve the target with nine balls to spare.
