Kings XI Punjab started the IPL 2018 campaign with five wins from the first six matches and were looking good to make the final four for the playoffs. But in the end, they finished at the seventh position with just six wins from fourteen games, won only one from the last eight games and they ended the group stage with five consecutive defeats.
Only opener KL Rahul and bowlers Andrew Tye and Mujeeb ur Rahman showed consistency with bat and ball respectively throughout the season, Chris Gayle too failed in the second half of the league after scoring four fifty-plus scores in the first five matches.
The middle order batsmen scored only two fifties in the whole season. Batsmen like Mayank Agarwal, Yuvraj Singh, Aaron Finch, Marcus Stoinis failed in each and every match. In the bowling department captain R Ashwin, Axar Patel, Mohit Sharma were among the major disappointments.
