Ravichandran Ashwin, the Kings XI Punjab Captain, has come out and stated after his side's loss against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium last night by just 3 runs that his team would now need the fortune to go there way in the form of results, to stand a chance to qualify for the playoffs.

Kings XI Punjab had won the 6 of their first 9 matches but has now lost their last four games, including the game against MI last night, and will have to win in their last game somehow and hope other team's help their cause in the ongoing Indian Premier League season.

Ravichandran Ashwin was quoted on Cricbuzz after the game saying, "Pretty blank at this point of time. We were in the chase all along. Pretty professional batting effort compared to the last few games but didn't work out for us today. It looked like it would be a clinical romp for us, but Bumrah bowled really well at the death and proved himself once again at the death. I've been in a dugout that has been on the edge always (CSK), but today we had a terrible day, and it's quite sad the way things panned out today, so we need a bit of luck to get through now and depend on other results"

Bowling first having won the toss, Ashwin decided to bowl first and saw his decision bearing fruits, till a Mumbai Indians fightback got them to a total of 186/8. With the bat as well, Punjab was looking well on their way to get the important win as KL Rahul(94 off 60) and Aaron Finch(46 off 35) batted beautifully until they got separated. This is when it all went downhill for Kings XI as they eventually lost the game by just 3 runs.

Talking further about the disappointing result, Ashwin said, "We were very abject about it after last game(losing wickets in a bunch), and we wanted to take the game deep and we wanted our best batsmen to be out there. Kudos to both KL and Aaron, but bad luck it for them it didn't happen today. KL has done exceptionally well throughout, he's the billion-dollar guy for us right now, and he has hardly missed a ball throughout the tournament. He's been in and out of the Indian side as well for the last few months, so he was quite eager to prove himself with this opportunity and he has done extremely well for us today"

If they do go out from the tournament without reaching the next round, again, this will count as another big missed opportunity by the Kings XI Punjab franchise in the Indian Premier League history.
