Former Zimbabwe captain and current coach Heath Streak joined IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders as their head bowling coach. He will take over from Laxmipathy Balaji, who performed the duties last year.
Balaji was picked up by the returning Chennai Super Kings and KKR team management opted for the experienced Streak to take his place. Streak played 65 Tests and 189 ODIs for Zimbabwe picking 216 and 239 wickets respectively, in a career spanning from 1993-2005.
KKR’s original bowling coach, Wasim Akram is not available for the assignment thanks to the diplomatic tension between India and Pakistan. Streak was previously the bowling coach of Gujarat Lions franchise for their two years of existence in IPL from 2016-2017.
