Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are keen to get their old set up supporting staff back for their return to the IPL fold in 2018. They have already retained three of their main players in captain MS Dhoni, vice-captain Suresh Raina and spinner Ravindra Jadeja.

CSK may lose out on a few players in the auction, but the team management is making sure CSK retain their support staff.

As per Sportstar's reports, Dhoni also made it clear about getting the core back. He said, "But let's not get emotional. Other franchises would also try and get some of the old CSK players."

One of the major reason behind CSK's consistent performance was their unchanged squad. Whether it's team or support staff, Chennai always stuck with them.

Returning to the IPL after a ban of 2 years, CSK has now got their former head coach Stephen Fleming back in the same role. Fleming had served CSK from 2008-2015; first as a player and then as a coach.

"We want to retain the entire support staff, with Fleming as the coach and Hussey as the batting coach," CSK's newly appointed CEO, Kasi Viswanath, said on Friday (Sportstar).

Talking about the support staff, it has already secured the services of their former opener Michael Hussey as the team's batting coach. The franchise has also roped in Lakshmipathy Balaji as the bowling coach.

The trainer and physio from the old set up would also return, revealed Viswanath, the erstwhile secretary of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, who recently took charge as the CSK CEO.
