Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube content game is quite strong as fans once again got a glimpse of it on Friday (August 8) as he addressed the rumors about his move away from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sanju Samson’s likely impending departure from Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Ashwin released the trailer of meet-up and interview with Samson on his YouTube channel. In the clip, the spin wizard gave hints about the deal, and it took the internet by storm.
Ashwin also offered to trade himself if Samson could ‘travel back to Chennai’. Although it was unclear what exactly the duo was talking about, the RR captain just couldn’t stop laughing at the tease without uttering a word.
“I have a lot of questions to ask. But before that, I thought I’ll come directly and trade myself. I am happy to stay back in Kerala. There are a lot of rumours going on. Neither do I know of anything. So, I thought I’ll reach out to you and ask you. If I can stay back in Kerala and you can travel back to Chennai," Ashwin said in the video.
Rumours are rife that Sanju Samson has asked Rajasthan Royals to release or trade him ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, following a deepening rift with the franchise.
The Royals are reportedly exploring multiple trade options and have approached all franchises, even those with established wicketkeeper-batters. A few teams responded, but none made an offer that RR deemed acceptable. Among the interested parties, CSK have expressed clear intent.
On Friday, reports emerged claiming that Ashwin wanted to part ways with CSK as well. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and the legendary MS Dhoni are in Chennai discussing about the team’s plans, and there’s a good chance that the veteran off-spinner is released this year.
It would be interesting to see if Ashwin, who was part of the RR side previously, could be a part of the deal.
