Shreyas Iyer was the center of attention as Punjab Kings (PBKS) made it into the final of the IPL 2025, only their second summit clash ever. This came after Iyer’s 87* helped PBKS defeat Mumbai Indians (MI) by 5 wickets in Qualifier 2 on June 1 in Ahmedabad.
In preparation for the final match against RCB, where they have the opportunity to win the title for the first time in the history of the team, Shreyas Iyer and company made the most of Punjab's first postseason appearance since 2014.
Given all of that, it seems sensible that the Punjab ownership, who have always been very involved with the team but haven't had much success, had a very emotional day.
After that, Iyer and Ness Wadia, the owners of Punjab, cut a cake in the dressing room to commemorate Punjab's second IPL final appearance. Wadia kissed Iyer's cheek after giving him a piece of cake and congratulating him on making it to another IPL final as captain.
Fans saw that shortly after the incident, a stony-faced Iyer picked up a napkin, wiped his face, and moved on, all while concentrating on the task at hand—getting ready for the IPL final.
