Gujarat Titans (GT) faced a heartbreaking exit from IPL 2025 after a 20-run loss to Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Eliminator fixture at Mullanpur on Friday (May 30).

The result left the families of GT players and support staff emotional. In a video going viral on social media, GT head coach Ashish Nehra's son and captain Shubman Gill's sister Shahneel could be seen looking visibly distraught.

Gujarat Titans were leading the points table for most of the IPL 2025 league stage, but a loss in their last two group-stage fixtures against Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings resulted in the 2022 champions playing the Eliminator against Mumbai Indians.

Gill and his men then suffered their third defeat in a row as MI held their nerve to secure a place in Qualifier 2.

The Hardik Pandya-led side will now face Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 in Ahmedabad on June 1, with a place in the June 3 title clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru up for grabs.
