Punjab Kings (PBKS) were handed a rude awakening in Qualifier 1 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 29, 2025 in New Chandigarh Stadium in Mullanpur. RCB won the toss and chose to bowl first.
And Rajat Patidar’s decision proved to be correct as PBKS was shot out for 101 runs. Marcus Stoinis (26), Prabhsimran Singh (18), and Azmatullah Omarzai (18) were the only ones to reach double figures. Josh Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma picked three wickets each.
PBKS were reeling at 60/6 in 9th over, when the team management decided to deepen their batting and sent in 20-year-old Musheer Khan for his IPL and T20 debut, as an impact sub. Brother of India batter Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer stunned everyone with 433 runs in just five innings at a brilliant average of 108 for Mumbai in last Ranji Trophy.
Just as Musheer Khan was getting ready, Virat Kohli, who was standing in the slips started to mock the young batter. He began asking his teammates who this guy was and even gestured that he usually serves drinks to other PBKS players.
While Virat Kohli’s words weren’t audible, his gestures were enough to tell that he was making fun of Musheer for being a waterboy for Punjab Kings.

Unfortunately, Musheer couldn’t do much on his IPL and T20 debut and was dismissed by Suyash Sharma for a three-ball duck.
