The 70th and final league game of the IPL 2025 saw Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on May 27, 2025. RCB stand-in captain Jitesh Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first.
LSG's new opener, Matthew Breetzke, made 14 runs before getting out to Thilan Thushara. But then Mitchell Marsh (67) added 152 runs for the second wicket with Rishabh Pant. The duo took the game away from the RCB bowlers.
Marsh made 67 in 37 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes, but the hero of the LSG innings was captain Rishabh Pant. Pant, regaining his demolishing form, hammered a 54-ball century and made 118* in 61 balls with 11 fours and 8 sixes. In the end, LSG made 227/3 in 20 overs.
In response, Phil Salt (30) and Virat Kohli (54) added 61 runs inside 6 overs to give RCB a good start. Then RCB lost quick wickets in Kohli, Patidar, and Livingstone and trailed at 123/4 in 11.2 overs. But then Mayank Agarwal anchored one end, and captain Jitesh Sharma started hammering big shots from the other end.
Agarwal remained not out on 41 with 5 fours, while Jitesh Sharma stole the show with 85* in 33 balls with 8 fours and 6 sixes. RCB won the game by 6 wickets and also finished second on the IPL 2025 points table.
RCB will now clash with PBKS in Qualifier 1 in Chandigarh on May 29, while GT will face MI in the Eliminator on May 30, also in Chandigarh.
The cricket fraternity was all praises for RCB for their win and top 2 finish, while lauding Jitesh Sharma for his amazing knock.
