Rishabh Pant was the toast of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their final IPL 2025 league stage match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 27, 2025, in Lucknow. RCB stand-in captain Jitesh Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first. RCB needs to win this match to ensure a top-two finish.
LSG's new opener, Matthew Breetzke, made 14 runs before getting out to Thilan Thushara. But then Mitchell Marsh (67) added 152 runs for the second wicket with Rishabh Pant. The duo took the game away from the RCB bowlers.
Marsh made 67 in 37 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes, but the hero of the LSG innings was captain Rishabh Pant. Pant, regaining his demolishing form, hammered a 54-ball century and made 118* in 61 balls with 11 fours and 8 sixes. In the end, LSG made 227/3 in 20 overs.
This was Rishabh Pant’s second century in IPL cricket. His previous ton came in the 2018 IPL when he struck an unbeaten 128 off 63 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Notably, this 54-ball hundred is now the fastest ever by an LSG batter in IPL history.
He celebrated his century by doing a somersault near the pitch and thanked god afterwards.
