Even if the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) do not compete in the 2025 IPL playoffs, Rishabh Pant's team will have many memorable moments from the competition.
In addition to Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran's explosive knocks and captain Pant's awful record, one member of LSG's team stood out from the others. Digvesh Singh Rathi, the top wicket-taker for LSG with an outstanding 14 wickets in 12 games, is the person in question.
The right-arm mystery spinner went viral for his celebration after taking a wicket. Rathi used to take out an imaginary notebook and write the departing batter’s name. He was fined thrice and even received a ban of one match for his antics.
His ban came after he gave the same sendoff of notebook celebration to SRH’s Abhishek Sharma, who retaliated after being disrespected.
Rathi was also punished for his actions and ordered to pay a hefty ₹9.37 lakhs in fines, which is over one-third of the amount that LSG paid for him.
The bowler eventually explains why he keeps doing the same in a video that was uploaded to LSG's official X handle.
"Whenever there is a tournament, I carry a notebook and write down all the names,” Rathi revealed.
