Delhi Capitals (DC) vice-captain Faf du Plessis had a hilarious response to a fan who said he should be cast in a movie alongside Punjab Kings (PBKS) co-owner Preity Zinta after the picture of the two went viral on social media.
After the clash between two teams in Jaipur on Saturday (May 24), Du Plessis and Zinta were caught having a chat. DC won the game by six wickets under the captaincy of the South African, who was filling in for Axar Patel.
Following the match, a fan on X suggested that Du Plessis has got the action hero vibe and Zinta is ageing like fine wine at the moment. The fan also added that the pairing has potential and should be cast in either in a sports drama or a royal romance.
Faf du Plessis responded to the fan and said, "Make it happen."
Coming to the match, the Shreyas Iyer-led side posted 206 runs on the board in 20 overs and DC chase down the total with three deliveries to spare.
After the high-scoring affair, Preity Zinta expressed her displeasure over one of the decisions taken by the third umpire, which she termed as unacceptable.
During the 15th over of first innings, PBKS batter Shashank Singh played a shot off Mohit Sharma straight down the ground. Karun Nair, positioned on the boundary, tried his best to save it but eventually signalled that the ball had gone for a six.
However, upon watching the replay from different angles, the third umpire came to a conclusion that Nair’s foot wasn’t touching the boundary line. Instead of awarding a six, only a single run was given.
Reacting to TV umpire's decision, Zinta wrote on X: “In a such a high profile tournament with so much technology at the Third Umpire’s disposal such mistakes are unacceptable & simply shouldn’t happen. I spoke To Karun after the game & he confirmed it was DEFINITELY a 6 ! I rest my case !”
With this defeat, PBKS lost a big chance to reach the top of the table as they remained at 17 points after 13 matches. They will now have to win their last league fixture against Mumbai Indians to stay in the top two spots.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals finished the season at the fifth spot, with 15 points from 14 matches.
