Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi revealed that he had received 500 missed calls after his brilliant hundred in IPL 2025 and head coach Rahul Dravid laughed at the revelation. The 14-year-old captured the interest of the audience.
After showcasing his abilities to the world, Suryavanshi became the youngest player to achieve his first IPL century as RR crushed Punjab Kings' aim of 210. Suryavanshi was the talk of the town after scoring 101 off of just 38 balls. Other than the name Vaibhav Suryavanshi, nothing else in the IPL matters for the next few days.
The child was overwhelmed by everything the world witnessed, but regrettably, it will take another year to experience the wonder of Suryavanshi. Suryavanshi expressed his excitement at seeing his preparations pay off in an open interview with RR coach Rahul Dravid. He also disclosed that he received 500 missed calls following his historic hundred.
"I have been preparing for 3-4 months. And I saw the results too. Whatever was missing, I was able to work on it. All the things that once looked tough, became easy. I have realised that it's important to stay focused. There's no such thing as natural game. You only have to play according to what the team needs. And not try to do too many extra things at this level. I have to stay in my strong zone and make the team win," Suryavanshi told Dravid in a video posted by IPL.
"I received over 500 missed calls, but I had kept my phone switched off. A lot of people were approaching him after I scored the century. But I don't like that [having too many people]. I try to stay away. I had kept my phone off for 4 days; I told you that. I like to be around my people at home and a few friends. That's it,” the teenager said.
After the IPL 2025, Suryavanshi is now gearing up for the England challenge. The India Under-19 team will play their English counterparts in three four-day matches and five 50-over matches. The young player will be exposed to new playing conditions throughout this tour, which should be a worthwhile educational experience.
Dravid warned that Suryavanshi will be closely watched when he rejoins the IPL the following year, especially by the opposing bowlers.
"It was a great season. Keep doing what you did, play well, train well. But keep this in mind that next year, all these bowlers will come prepared, more prepared against you. So we too have to prepare, train hard, and develop more skills. Well done," Dravid stated.
