BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla intervened to diffuse a heated altercation between teenage cricketers Abhishek Sharma and Digvesh Rathi during an IPL 2025 match at Ekana Stadium.
This incident happened when Digvesh Rathi dismissed Abhishek Sharma in SRH’s chase of 205 runs against LSG. Atharva Taide and Abhishek Sharma started the SRH innings together. While Taide was quickly dismissed for 13 runs with three fours, Abhishek Sharma didn't let up and produced some incredible strokes.
Sharma reached 59 in just 20 balls with 6 sixes and 4 fours, including 4 consecutive sixes against Ravi Bishnoi. Digvesh Rathi got him with a wrong 'un, and Shardul Thakur caught him in the eighth over, ending his innings.
But shortly after Rathi freed Abhishek, the two exchanged looks as Rathi motioned for him to return and complete his signature autograph celebration.
However, Abhishek Sharma didn’t take things kindly, and the two got into a verbal duel. Rathi ran up to Abhishek and got in his face in anger, while one umpire got the SRH batter to go back, while Will O’Rourke held Rathi back.

However, after SRH won the game, photos went viral showing BCCI VP Rajeev Shukla talking to both Rathi and Abhishek after the match. It showed Shukla mediating the situation, showing him in conversation with Sharma while Rathi listened to the SRH batter's perspective.

The mediation proved effective as both players were later seen reconciling with smiles and embraces.
