On May 19, 2025, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced off in the 61st IPL 2025 match in Lucknow. LSG is still in the running for the playoffs, while SRH has been knocked out.
After winning the toss, SRH captain Pat Cummins decided to bowl first. Mitchell Marsh struck 65 in 39 balls and Aiden Markram made 61 in 38 balls as the LSG openers amassed 115 runs in 10.3 overs. With 45 runs, Nicholas Pooran was the next highest scorer as LSG reached 205/7 in 20 overs.
Abhishek Sharma and Atharva Taide opened the innings for SRH and Taide soon got out for 13 runs with 3 fours, Abhishek Sharma, on the other hand, didn’t let his foot off the accelerator and played some breathtaking shots.
Sharma hit 6 sixes and 4 fours, including 4 sixes in a row off Ravi Bishnoi, on his way to 59 in only 20 balls. His innings came to an end as Digvesh Rathi got him with a wrong’un and had him caught by Shardul Thakur in the 8th over.
However, soon after Rathi got Abhishek out, the two stared at one another with Rathi signaling him to go back and do his signature autograph celebration.
However, Abhishek Sharma didn’t take things kindly, and the two got into a verbal duel. Rathi ran up to Abhishek and got in his face in anger, while one umpire got the SRH batter to go back, while Will O’Rourke held Rathi back.
Both angrily gestured at one another until LSG teammates made Rathi go back to his mark.
