Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that the franchise will ask all of their players to return and rejoin the team as the IPL 2025 is set to resume soon. Notably, CSK is no longer in the fray for a playoffs berth, having being the first team to be eliminated.
CSK has won only 3 games in 12 matches thus far in the IPL 2025 and lie on the 10th spot with 6 points to their name. MS Dhoni is captaining the side after Ruturaj Gaikwad got injured and was ruled out of the tournament.
After India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire, the BCCI is looking at a quick restart of the tournament over the next five to six days, and CSK has warned their overseas players that they may have to return in a week.
“Although we are not in contention for a play-off berth, we want the league to be completed. The IPL is a prestigious league, and we want it to cooperate with the BCCI on the matter. We have only two more games left, and we have advised the overseas players that they may have to return in a week," CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
As per BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, BCCI will spend the next two days gathering inputs before holding a meeting to chart IPL 2025‘s road map. 16 games, including four playoffs, remain in the tournament and as per reports, it might resume by next Friday.
Given that the Indian Premier League is a national competition, the BCCI wishes to confer with the Indian government. BCCI declared on Friday that the IPL 2025 would be suspended after being forced to postpone a match between the Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Dharamsala.
