The 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is likely to resume either by May 15 or 16, TOI reported on Saturday (May 10).

Amid escalating India-Pakistan border tensions, the BCCI on Friday (May 9) suspended the remainder of the IPL 2025 with immediate effect for one week.

The media advisory was released by the board secretary Devajit Saikia, who stated that further updates regarding the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced in due course after security assessment and stakeholder consultation.

According to the report, the BCCI is in a huddle to finalize the details and 16 remaining fixtures, and matches will be held pan-India barring Dharamsala.

The move comes as India agreed to a ceasefire after Pakistan approached them earlier in the day.

While overseas players are on their way back home, they will be asked to rejoin their respective teams at the earliest.

The report further stated that overseas members of every squad was panicking because of the airport situation as they didn't want their movements to be affected because of the border tensions. Every franchise will now begin their arrangements and wait for the detailed instruction from the BCCI.

"Yes the overseas players were panicking but it was more because of the airport shutdown and all. They patiently listened to the franchises and had full confidence but it was the fear of international airports getting shut which triggered a lot of panic," TOI quoted a source tracking developments.

Notably, the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was called off midway on Thursday (May 8) due to what the broadcasters called a "technical" issue. However, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal later admitted in an interview that the stadium was evacuated due to a red alert issued in Jammu.

A total of 57 matches had been completed in the 18th edition of IPL. There are 12 league matches still remaining, followed by the four play-off fixtures.
