Amid escalating India-Pakistan border tensions, the IPL 2025 clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was abruptly halted midway in Dharamsala on Thursday (May 8).

The BCCI, prioritizing safety, coordinated with Indian Railways to arrange a special train to evacuate players, support staff members, commentators and broadcast crew from the region.

Taking to social media, the IPL shared a video of the train journey and thanked Indian Railways for their prompt support.

“Thank you, @RailMinIndia, for arranging a special Vande Bharat train on such short notice to ferry the players, support staff, commentators, production crew members, and operations staff to New Delhi. We deeply appreciate your swift response,” the caption of the post read.

In the clip, DC’s wrist-spinner spinner Kuldeep Yadav added: “Jis tarah se manage kiya, woh bahut achcha tha. I want to say thank you to BCCI and Indian Railways.”

The game was halted after 10.1 overs, with players swiftly transported via road to Pathankot, where they boarded the special train to Delhi.

“With rising threat levels and airports shut across the region, we are organising a special train from close to Dharamsala to bring everybody home safely. Players' safety is our utmost priority. The match couldn’t continue tonight due to the situation,” BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla said on Thursday night.

On Friday (May 9), the BCCI suspended IPL 2025 for a week and new schedule will be announced after security assessment and stakeholder consultation.
