An anonymous email threatening to detonate the Arun Jaitley Stadium was sent to the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Friday morning. The Delhi Capitals' stadium in the nation's capital was supposed to host the May 11 IPL 2025 match between the DC and Gujarat Titans before the competition was put on hold for a week.
A top DDCA official confirmed the development to TimesofIndia.com and added that they have informed the Delhi Police about it.
"Yes, we received a threat email this morning and have already forwarded it to the Delhi Police. They already swung into action and did an inspection of the venue some time back," said the official to Times of India.
The threat email went on to say that they would activate their Pakistani loyalist sleeper cells located throughout India for Operation Sindoor.
Citing national security concerns in the wake of India's military reaction to the April 22 Pahalgam terror assault, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) formally halted the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) for one week on Friday.
The decision was made the day after the Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals game in Dharamsala was called off due to an air raid alert.
