Three fans of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Virat Kohli were arrested for sacrificing a poor goat in front of a cutout of the RCB batter. They were arrested from the Mariyammanahalli Village in Vijaynagar by local police after their video of doing so went viral.

As per a Times of India report, as a sacrifice to Kohli, a group of adolescent followers used a weapon to hack off the head of a goat. As part of the festivities following RCB's victory against CSK on May 3, they also allegedly offered Abhishek to the cut-out using the goat's blood.

According to the TOI report, police arrested Palayya, Jayanna and Thippeswamy. The arrests were made on the basis of a video of the incident, which went viral.

One individual is seen holding a goat in front of Kohli's cutout in the 20-second video, and then another announces RCB's victory over CSK. After then, the goat is killed with a machete, and the blood is offered to the Kohli cutout as raktaabhisheka. A third fan, meantime, was observed using a rope to hold the goat.

The public's negative reaction to the video on social media prompted the Molakalmuru police to file a case and make charges under the appropriate animal cruelty laws.

RCB are second in the IPL 2025 points table, with eight wins and three defeats. In 11 matches, RCB have registered 16 points and are behind table toppers GT (16 points).

Virat Kohli is currently RCB’s highest run-scorer with 505 runs in 11 matches, at a strike rate of 143.46, and is fourth in the Orange Cap race.
