Due to "Operation Sindoor" and associated security measures in the border states between India and Pakistan have an impact on the travel schedules of Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) teams. Other teams are scheduled to visit Dharamsala, including the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), who were already there for their game.
Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot are among the airports close to the India-Pakistan border that have been closed until 5:30 AM IST on May 10. Several airlines have responded to the travel difficulties by suspending operations and issuing recommendations.
On May 8, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals will play at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. For the forthcoming game, the two squads have already arrived in Dharamsala.
Travel plans for Mumbai Indians are probably going to be impacted. Following their game against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Tuesday, the Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians team is currently in Mumbai.
The Times of India reports that, barring any changes from the Indian government, the match will proceed as planned.
Because Dharamsala airport and the surrounding airports in Amritsar and Chandigarh are closed, the IPL teams and the BCCI are investigating other travel possibilities.
The teams could have to take a road trip from Delhi because the Chandigarh airport is closed. The official also stated that they will make judgments based on their monitoring of government advisories.
"We will have to wait and watch for now. There is no option because even Chandigarh airport is shut so we need to see what can be done. Two teams are already here and MI were supposed to arrive later this week for their match on May 11. The nearest option is the Delhi airport but that would mean a long road journey for the teams. We are tracking government advisories and will take the call as necessary," said a senior BCCI official told Times of India.
Dharamshala is set to host two fixtures this week and given the current air travel advisories, the BCCI is likely to keep alternatives ready.
