Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) stand-in skipper Riyan Parag put on a show with the bat during his team’s IPL 2025 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on Sunday (May 4).
Chasing 207 to win, Parag slammed 95 off just 45 balls, giving RR a hope of victory amidst batting collapse. However, the visitors eventually fell one run short of the target in what proved to be a high-scoring thriller.
Parag’s brutal knock included 6 consecutive sixes. The onslaught came against KKR spinner Moeen Ali in the 13th over. After Shimron Hetmyer took a single off the first ball, Parag went berserk — smashing five sixes in a row to accumulate 32 runs from that over.
In the very next over, bowled by Varun Chakaravarthy, Hetmyer once again rotated the strike early, and Parag produced a stunning reverse hit over deep backward point to register his sixth consecutive maximum.

Overall, Riyan Parag’s knock was studded with 6 boundaries and 8 sixes. However, it couldn’t take RR over the finishing line.
Shubham Dubey (25* off 14) nearly pulled off 22 runs in the final over against Vaibhav Arora, but a run out on the last delivery saw KKR scrape a narrow win.
