Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) registered a nervy two-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 52 of the IPL 2025 season at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday (May 3).
Asked to bat first, RCB racked up a mammoth 213/5 on the board, courtesy of half-centuries from Virat Kohli (62 off 33 balls), Jacob Bethell (55 off 33 balls) and Romario Shepherd (53* off 14 balls)
Matheesha Pathirana was the stand-out bowler for CSK, claiming three wickets by conceding 36 runs in his four overs.
In reply, the five-time champions lost came really close to beating the hosts, thanks to Ayush Mhatre's 94 off 48 and Ravindra Jadeja's 77 not out off 45, but they faltered towards the end.
CSK needed 15 off the last over with Jadeja and skipper MS Dhoni at the crease, but Yash Dayal held his nerves to seal the deal for RCB.
The left-arm quick trapped Dhoni in front of the wickets on the third delivery to put CSK on the backfoot. While Shivam Dube hit the fourth delivery -- a no-ball -- for six, Dayal bounced back to concede three singles to replicate his last year’s heroics against CSK.
With this victory, RCB climbed to top of the table and inched closer to playoffs while CSK continued their dismal run in the tournament.
Here’s how the cricket fraternity members reacted to RCB’s nail-biting win over CSK in Bengaluru.
