Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shreyas Iyer led from the front to script his team’s four-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk on Wednesday (April 30).

Chasing 191 to win, Shreyas slammed 72 off 41 balls with five boundaries and four sixes as PBKS overhauled the target with two deliveries to spare.

His fourth half-century of IPL 2025 helped PBKS climb to second spot on the points table and knocked CSK out of the playoffs race.

After the game, Iyer said he would not like to ‘curse’ his away form and just go about his business, staying in the present and reacting to the deliveries bowled to him accordingly.

“I love chasing on any field. I feel like I thrive whenever there is a big total on the board and you need to take the charge and momentum for the team for the rest of the batters to come and go full throttle," Iyer said while speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony.

“I don’t want to curse it (form in away games) and just stay in the present and reacting to the ball. It doesn’t matter where I am playing. I just play with my approach. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t," he added.

The PBKS captain revealed that batting against pacers in the nets with the new ball has boosted his confidence immensely.

“Lately, I have been batting a lot in the nets and facing the quick bowlers, especially with the new ball, and that’s given me immense confidence. This is one part I have worked on," Iyer said.

“The attitude is something that I keep high whenever I approach the field. So I think all these small boxes have been ticked and that’s there to see," he further remarked.

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell could be ruled out of IPL 2025 after fracturing one of his fingers. He did not feature in the match against CSK.

“Unfortunately, he’s got a fractured finger," Iyer said at the toss.

Punjab Kings will next face Lucknow Super Giants in Dharamsala on Sunday (May 4).
