On Wednesday, April 30, Yuzvendra Chahal, the star leg-spinner for the Punjab Kings (PBKS), stunned the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), commanded by MS Dhoni, with an incredible hat-trick in their ongoing IPL 2025 match in Chennai.
Shreyas Iyer brought in Chahal to deliver his third over in the 19th over of the CSK innings, with explosive batters MS Dhoni and Shivam Dube batting in the middle.
He began the over with a wide before getting hit for six by MS Dhoni. However, he came back strong to dismiss MS Dhoni on the next ball, caught at long off by Nehal Wadhera.
On the next ball, Deepak Hooda took a double off Yuzvendra Chahal, and the leg-spinner quickly showed why he is the highest wicket-taker in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. Chahal bowled a floated full toss to Hooda, who hit it into the hands of Priyansh Arya.
Anshul Kamboj came in next and was clean bowled by a slider by the ace leg-spinner. Noor Ahmad came out to face the hat-trick ball, and Chahal floated a slow one on the off-stump. Noor tried to swat it away for a six but top-edged it for a simple catch by Marco Jansen.
Yuzvendra Chahal struck his signature chill-guy pose after completing his second hat-trick in the IPL.
This is the second hat-trick for Yuzvendra Chahal in IPL and he joins Yuvraj Singh in the list for most hat-tricks in the tournament with two. The list is led by Amit Mishra, who had three hat-tricks to his name in IPL.
