Gujarat Titans (GT) have continued to be in the top 4 of the ongoing IPL 2025 tournament as their strategy on bowling combinations has worked well. Despite losing Mohammad Shami, Mohit Sharma, and Lockie Ferguson before the IPL 2025 mega auction, GT invested in young Indian pacers and is reaping the fruits.
One of those pacers who is performing extremely well for GT is Prasidh Krishna. Due to leg spinner Rashid Khan's diminished ability to take wickets and Kagiso Rabada's decision to stay home for personal reasons, Prasidh has successfully managed vital wickets throughout the game, thereby reducing opponents' scoring opportunities.
As the competition moves toward a pivotal phase, this bodes well for the Titans. On Sunday, Prasidh was emphasizing Ashish Nehra, the head coach of GT, and his influence during the current IPL season.
“I was very clear about what I wanted to work on, made sure I put in the hours, and had the right conversations with Ashish Nehra. One thing that I’ve learned from him is about reading the conditions, the pitch, making sure you make the right decisions when you’re at the top of the mark,” Prasidh said in the JioHotstar Press Room.
“All of these things help you be more confident. And when you’re confident, I think you would want to play as many games as possible and make sure you contribute to your team’s victory,” he added.
KL Rahul was removed by Prasidh's full-length yorker during the visitors' explosive powerplay against DC in Ahmedabad, thus lowering their scoring rate. It's his favorite. He also spoke about the use of saliva, tilting things a bit in favor of bowlers.
“KL Rahul’s wicket was my favourite because I was kind of under pressure. I was lucky that the ball swung very late and got somebody like KL Rahul.
It has played a bit of a part because if you look at what the ball does with the saliva on it, even if it means that one out of the 120 balls tears in a little more, that means you get a wicket that’s an extra dot ball. And if that happens at a crucial stage when the right batsman gets out, that means you slow down the run rate, and you get the momentum back. So, it has a chain reaction kind of a thing. And it definitely helped the bowler,” Prasidh signed off.
GT will face RR in Jaipur on April 28, 2025, in their next IPL 2025 match.
