Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) suffered a crushing 54-run defeat against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match 45 of the IPL 2025 season at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday (April 27).

Chasing 216 to win, LSG’s innings folded for 161 in 20 overs. It was a listless batting performance as no one managed to cross the 40-run mark.

MI’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah wreaked havoc on the visiting batting line-up as he returned with the figures of 4/22 in four overs. Aiden Markram, David Miller, Abdul Samad and Avesh Khan were his victims.

Even though LSG were outclassed by MI, leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi didn't lose an opportunity to celebrate when he smashed Bumrah for a maximum.

During the 18th over of LSG’s innings, Bishnoi slogged a length delivery from Bumrah over long-on to earn six runs. Bishnoi couldn’t control his emotions as the ball soared into the stands. He pumped his fists and celebrated the strike in front of Bumrah.

Bumrah cracked a wry smile at Bishnoi's reaction while LSG skipper Rishabh Pant was seen laughing in the dugout after watching the act of his teammate.

Besides Bumrah, the likes of Trent Boult (3-20 in 4 overs), Will Jacks (2-18 in 2 overs) and Corbin Bosch (1-26 in 4 overs) bowled brilliantly to help MI register a comprehensive victory.

With this win, the five-time champions climbed to second spot in the team standings with 12 points under their belt from 10 matches.

On the other hand, LSG remained at sixth position on the points table, with five wins and as many defeats from 10 outings.
