Delhi Capitals (DC) players are really enjoying themselves as their franchise is placed second on the IPL 2025 points table with 12 points. In a recent funny incident, Axar Patel was able to find humor in KL Rahul’s agony during their nets session.
KL Rahul, India and Delhi Capitals' standout batsman, broke his bat in two while practicing his batting during the team's nets session, prompting captain Axar Patel to crack a humorous "mongoose bat" joke.
In a recent video published to DC's official social media, KL Rahul shattered his bat while batting, prompting Axar Patel to pick up the broken bat and engage in banter with his teammate Tristan Stubbs.
While DC's within-team banter in IPL 2025 has already made many fans giggle, Axar Patel's humorous comparison of KL Rahul's broken bat to a handle-only mongoose bat has just added to the list. Rahul's damaged bat was left snapped in the middle, and Axar introduced the top half of it as his replacement bat to Stubbs, joking about its resemblance to the mongoose bat.
Here is the video:
The popular mongoose bat is specifically built for aggressive batting in forms like T20, with a shorter blade and a longer handle, and Rahul's bat, which had split in half with only a small piece remaining at the top with the handle, looked uncannily identical to a mongoose bat.
