Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant batted at the no.7 spot in their recent IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on April 22, 2025.
LSG batted first and scored 159/6 in 20 overs thanks to Aiden Markram's 52, Mitchell Marsh's 45, and impact substitute Ayush Badoni's 36. Nicholas Pooran, noted for his massive sixes, failed to reproduce his trend, scoring nine runs off a Mitchell Starc delivery. Mukesh Kumar claimed four wickets for the Delhi Capitals.
He came into the match on the back of extremely poor form and now has just 106 runs at a below-par average of 13.25. Pant walked in at No. 7, a position he had not batted in during his previous 113 IPL innings.
This was only the third time in his IPL career that he batted so low, the other two being in his first season in 2016.
However, the move was ineffective. Mukesh Kumar bowled Pant for a golden duck, sealing a poor performance for LSG.
Fans were not happy with LSG captain Rishabh Pant’s poor outing, especially against his former franchise. They took to social media and vented their frustrations at the keeper-batter.
