Shubman Gill was surprised during the toss on Monday when commentator Danny Morrison asked him about his marriage. The incident occurred during the toss between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans in the 39th IPL 2025 match at Eden Gardens.
Shubman, 25, is largely regarded as the future of Indian cricket, and he has a large fan base in India despite his young age. He has also demonstrated good leadership skills for the Gujarat Titans in recent years.
As a result, he has been promoted to the leadership position in India's ODI team as Rohit Sharma's deputy. So far this season, he has been a cool and controlled skipper.
However, a question about his marriage during the toss against his previous team, Kolkata Knight Riders, made him blush.
Danny Morrison, who was hosting the toss, asked the GT skipper, “You're looking lovely, no wedding bells in the future. What's happening? You getting married?"
Shubman had a smile on his face while replying, "No, nothing of that sort."
KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bowl first at Eden Gardens. The defending champions changed their starting lineup, replacing Quinton de Kock and Anrich Nortje with Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Moeen Ali, respectively.
The visitors, who are currently at the top of the table, named Washington Sundar to the starting XI, but Ishant Sharma and Arshad Khan were left out.
