The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has reportedly requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to prohibit Harsha Bhogle and Simon Doull from commentating at Eden Gardens during the IPL 2025 matches.

The CAB request came after Doull and Bhogle advised that the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) leave the city due to the home curator's lack of help in preparing pitches in accordance with the franchise's requirements.

KKR captain Rahane famously asked Mukherjee to prepare a more spin-friendly track for the franchise's talents like Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine, but the wicket has frequently turned out to be more pace-friendly, fostering high-scoring games.

The CAB, on the other hand, supported curator Mukherjee, claiming that he has done nothing wrong and is simply following BCCI rules, which specify that no franchise can prescribe the nature of the pitch to be prepared at a location.

Doull remarked in a discussion that if the Eden Gardens curator continues to be uncooperative, the Ajinkya Rahane-led franchise should look for a new home.

“If he's (the curator) not taking heed of what the home team wants… I mean, they are paying the stadium fees, they are paying for what's going on in the IPL, but if he's still not paying heed to what the home team wants, then just move the franchise away to somewhere else. His job is not to pass an opinion on the game. That's not what he's paid for,” Doull had said on Cricbuzz.

Harsha Bhogle had also echoed his sentiments and said: “If they are playing at home, (they) should get the tracks that they think are suited for their bowlers. I saw something (about) what the KKR curator has said.”

According to RevSportz, the state association has sent a strongly written letter to the BCCI requesting that commentators Harsha Bhogle and/or Simon Doull be barred from commentating on any of the IPL matches taking place at Eden Gardens this season.

Though the BCCI has yet to respond, neither Harsha Bhogle nor Simon Doull is likely to comment on Monday's IPL match at Eden Gardens between hosts KKR and the Gujarat Titans.

It should also be noted that the IPL 2025 final is slated to take place on May 25 at Eden Gardens.
