The 36th match of the IPL 2025 saw Rajasthan Royals (RR) hosting the Lucknow Super Giants (KSG) on April 19, 2025, at the Swai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur.

LSG captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bat first. While Aiden Markram (66, 5 fours and 3 sixes) and Ayush Badoni’s 50 (5 fours and 1 six) did the bulk of the scoring, Abdul Samad launched a brutal attack on Sandeep Sharma in the final over, hitting him for 4 sixes and finishing on 30* in 10 balls. LSG posted 180/5.

Wanindu Hasaranga picked 2 wickets for RR.

In response, RR openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and debutant Vaibhav Suryavanshi hammered the LSG bowlers in powerplay overs. The duo added 85 runs in 8.4 overs when Suryavanshi got out for 34 runs.

Jaiswal made 74 with 5 fours and 4 sixes, and captain Riyan Parag made 39 with 3 fours and 3 sixes. However, once both these batters fell, RR, who were cruising to the win, faltered.

Shimron Hetmyer made 12, but couldn’t score the 9 runs required in the final over. He got out and RR finished on 178/5, losing to LSG by 2 runs. Avesh Khan was the standout LSG bowler with 3/37.

This win meant LSG moved to 4th spot in IPL 2025 points table, with 10 points from 8 games, while RR slipped to 8th spot with 4 points from 8 games.

The cricket fraternity was all praises for LSG, who didn’t give up and defended the par total well.
